Hide & Seek – Short Horror Story

On a dark night, a group of friends played Hide and Seek in a quiet town surrounded by thick woods. They didn’t know it, but something scary was about to happen. As they got ready to play, they felt a strange feeling in the air. Tommy, the youngest and bravest, said he’d be the seeker. With a big smile, he closed his eyes and started counting.

“1… 2… 3…”

The others scattered to hide. They found spots behind trees, under leaves, and in dark corners.

Tommy finished counting, “10… Ready or not, here I come!”

He walked slowly, holding a flashlight. Its weak light made eerie shadows on the quiet streets. The sound of his footsteps echoed, adding to the spookiness.

One by one, Tommy found his friends, but someone was missing. He felt scared and called out, “Come out, everyone! The game is over!”

Silence.

The town stayed still, and a cold wind blew through the trees. Tommy walked further, his flashlight barely showing the way. The absence of his friends scared him, and the once-familiar streets felt strange and creepy.

Then, a faint whisper said, “Find me, if you dare.”

Fear filled Tommy, but he kept searching for his friend. The shadows moved and played tricks, making him even more scared. It felt like he was in a world of nightmares.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps, not his own. They got louder, closer, and Tommy’s heart raced. He wanted to run, but a bony hand grabbed his ankle.

Tommy screamed as he fell, pulled into the town’s forgotten past. His cries for help were lost in the darkness, trapped in something evil.

As morning came, the other friends came out, their faces pale with fear. They knew their friend was gone, taken by the darkness they brought. Guilt and terror stayed with them, ruining their favorite game forever.

Years passed, and the town became a place of scary stories. Hide and Seek was banned, its memory haunting them. People said they heard ghostly laughter and saw shadows, forever lost in the twisted game.
